Project Idea: Making Insect Puppets out of Gloves

Idea:
This project was simple, fun and allowed the children some imaginative playtime. As most of you know who follow this blog regularly, one of my goals is to pass along project ideas that are simple enough to complete in a matter of moments. for those of you with children (and younger children at that) you can probably relate that the time-slot for captivating attention at arts and crafts time is limited. For this reason, I keep all my projects basic. But, remember that if you have the time, you can elaborate on these ideas.

Today, we made puppets out of some black gloves that I found in the $1 bin at Joann's Craft Store. Our materials included the gloves, some double-sided tape (or you can just use normal tape and fold it), washable markers, construction paper and scissors. I cut the shapes of different insects and we colored them with the black marker. Once finished, we taped them onto the gloves, and set-up an area for a puppet show!

*The puppet show, complete with flying stunts.

*The Audience: we received a standing ovation at the end!

My daughters loved playing with puppets! We enjoyed watching their performances as well. This looks so each to do...I thought of an idea to add..is that okay? Using felt and velcro so you could make lots of different characters...but yours look so adorable...especially the ladybug...I love ladybugs....

Ellen, I LOVE that idea!!!! I might just have to do that later since this project really just left us with temporary puppets (the tape will only stick for so long!). The idea of being able to change out the characters is fantastic! Thank you!

My boys would love these! From the making to the playing, it would be a huge hit.
