A Child's Perfect Heart

Have you ever noticed that a child's heart is perfect?

Have you ever noticed how we spend so much time trying to perfect superficial things in life? We look for the perfect hair, the perfect color for our walls, the perfect lamp. We often strive to fit into what we consider the "perfect" size jeans. It's silly, really and such a waste of time...

Ironically, what children consider to be perfect often doesn't seem perfect from our standards. They wear pink polka-dot socks with a checkered shirt and tie-dyed pants, or they bake lopsided cookies and cover them with so many sprinkles, you can't tell what you are eating.

But,
when we realize that a child's heart is so unconcerned with the superficial outcome because they are so focused on enjoying the process, we can see the perfection, the absolute perfection of their tiny hearts. What an amazing ability a child has to joyfully live in the moment!

There is so much we can learn from a child's heart if we take the time to listen...

Happy Valentine's Day to you and all those you love. Here's to the beauty of a child's heart!

That is so true, watching my son play and the absolute perfection of his being fills my heart with such joy that it's difficult to even explain.

Lovely photos and perfect cookies, we're going to be making something similar this weekend too.

So true - a good reminder for all of us mothers out there... especially ones who sometimes tend to focus on perceptions of perfection. I think I want to go bake some lopsided heart cookies overflowing with sprinkles with my boys! Happy Valentine's Day!

She looks like she was having fun and enjoying the fruit (or cookie) of her labor.

My daughter saw those heart cookies and went nuts. She was all "Look those cookies have hearts and butterflies and flowers!!!"

Isn't it so cute how children love sprinkles and colors! Anything that glitters or looks like a rainbow will make them happy!
