Idea: Stacking Wood (Decor Trend Favorite)

Idea:

Do you have a fireplace that is beautiful but doesn't work?
Are you living in a metropolitan area where you can't use your fireplace because of fire restrictions?
Ever wondered what to do with your empty fireplace after winter?
One of my favorite decor ideas is a solution: stacking firewood in the fireplace.

This is also a great way to store or keep wood dry for working fireplaces in the off season or in-between fires (with a little shifting around of course before the actual fire).
I first spotted this idea on the popular style blog, Cup of Jo, where Joanna Goddard gave her readers a tour of her Manhattan apartment. I wanted to see exactly how easy this "wood-stacking" was and how it would translate in my house, so I gave it a shot the other day.
Can anyone say "cabin-fever-induced-snow-day"?
Anyway, it was a cinch to pull off and I did feel like I was adding a little Domino Magazine touch to our home.
*Speaking of Domino Magazine, The Wall Street Journal now has former Domino staff members (such as Rita Konig) writing for the Saturday Off Duty section. I've heard from Rita herself  (via email correspondence) that she will have an article in this weekend's paper!
Be sure to check it out.

Here's how the wood-stacking idea played out in our fireplace:

The wood-stacking idea would be most ideal for us in the summer (we do use our fireplace in the winter), but I'm sure you get the  picture. This idea gets two thumbs up from me.

p.s. Are your children so bored they're jumping on their beds? Check back in on Monday for an activity sure to cure anyone feeling cooped up this winter!
Also, if you haven't already, don't forget to enter the Salsa Pie $50 gift certificate giveaway from CSN stores. A winner will be chosen at random on Saturday. Click here to enter.

One of these days I'm going to order that bed for Isabella because I really love it!

Like the firewood in the fireplace but my favorite is getting one of those candle things and placing that in the fireplace and lighting them all....adding a mirror on the bottom for extra effect.
