The Truth About Crazy Crayons

And What to Really Do with Them!

Project Idea:
The other day we made the infamous Crazy Crayons.
Now, I know that every craft blogger blogs about them, and yes they are fun to make and always beautiful, but...the real story is-- they don't work very well.
For smaller children they are easier to grab and scribble with but they don't seem to put out as much color as their predecessors.  For older children who would like to color something with any precision, they are pretty disappointing.
In fact, one of my friends said her son realized Crazy Crayons weren't all they were cracked up to be so he used them as freight for his toy train.

My girls colored a bit with our version, then we decided to put them to use--as artwork.
I figured since they were super cool to look at on the table (in our crazy crayon box) they would be just as fun to gaze at on the wall.

Here's how our  art adventure played out:

wonderful idea! and i totally agree about the crayons- they're fun to make and look awesome but don't produce much color. this is an ingenious way to use them!

A great alternative use of something that didn't quite live up to its hype. Those crazy crayons look crazy good on the wall!

I like that idea - very pretty and just artsy enough for the most discriminating little artist!
