Being a Copycat

Idea:
Create Your Own Version of the Things You Love

While working in my "yard" a lot this year, I've been trying to create my own versions of my favorite garden objects. You can't go wrong when you surround yourself with things you love.
But what if the things you love are sometimes out of your budget?
Well, you can always become a "copycat" like me!

Anthropologie is one store that always makes me swoon. I adore the cheerful, colorful patterns in their home and garden section in particular.
The other day I felt inspired to paint some planters with my girls so I browsed through the Anthropologie planters and found this adorable little gem:

Isn't it cute? And cheerful?

I loved it so I copied it (with a few minor adjustments).

Here's how it turned out. I rubbed the edges while the paint was drying and rubbed over the design a little to make it look weathered. You can see that more in the first image--but I was happy with the way it turned out.

I also spotted this adorable Perky Poppies" tea towel and, inspired by the design, painted another planter with this in mind.

Kids can also get involved!
Worried they might splatter paint all over the pots?
Never fear--check out this cute "Pigment Spatter Planter" that Anthropologie sells.
Let your little "Splatter Experts" go wild!

Splatter Away!

That looks great! I love drawing inspiration from Anthropologie. They're just so expensive that it's nice to splurge now and again. This is a great idea to get your hands on some beautiful things without breaking the bank. I love it.
