Idea: Make a "Mini Me" Paper Doll
Inevitably, we all have those days when we need to find an indoor activity to keep the children occupied during the summer. Sick days, too-hot-to-play-outside days, and rainy days are times when I look for creative projects or fun indoor activities. I like the idea of making an "I'm Bored" or a "Feel Better" box for those days. Inside, you can store all types of games, coloring books, word puzzles or even paper dolls.
We have a paper doll collection that is part vintage, part homemade and part Disney Princess, so it's ever-evolving. Watching my children enjoy playing with paper dolls reminds me of my childhood and makes me so happy!

Today's especially creative idea was suggested to me by one of Salsa Pie's most awesome readers (and blogger extraordinaire) Rebecca of Just Another Blog! Thank you, Rebecca!

The Basics:

To make your own paper dolls in a "mini me" fashion: Take picture of your children, print them out and make paper dolls. Older children can draw clothing and you can too!

The full tutorial is on my How To spot but for those of you who want a quick run-down, here are the steps:
1. Take picture of your child standing up in shorts and a t-shirt.
2. Print out the picture on card
stock paper (regular paper also works)
3. cut out the figure
4. then laminate the figure or cover with sealing (clear packing) tape
5. Trim away the excess tape or laminate covering
6. Draw clothes, cut out and laminate (or tape)
7. Use tiny velcro strips (adhesive) to attach clothing so you can change the outfits.

VoilĂ !

Happy Paper Doll Making!
Remember, it doesn't have to look perfect--what matters is that you spent quality time doing something together!

FABULOUS!!! I used to ADORE making paper dolls when I was a little girl. I remember it so vividly, drawing the outfits, cutting them out.

What WAS it about them that so enchanted my little girl brain?

Supa dupa cute! I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I make paper dolls for myself to see what outfits I am taking on a trip...My poor kids, never considered making them some. Following now :)
